WWI : War in the Air

Places were used for the first time in a war during World War One. In 1914, the airplane was only ten years old so it was a new technology. Zeppelins, giant helium-filled airships were also used, mostly by the Germans. This was the time when the name "Ace" was created to describe any pilot who had five or more confirmed air victories.
